Globalization and the dynamics of international migration: implications for the refugee regime

This paper begins with a clarification of the concept of globalisation as it is used in the discussion that follows. Globalisation, the author argues, is best understood as a set of processes that are global in scope, that transcend the territorial borders of states, and which, as a consequence, profoundly affect the nature and functions of state governance in the world political economy, including, of course, the governance of migration.
