Protection Leadership: The Role of UNHCR in Humanitarian Crises

This document explains the importance of protection leadership and the role of UNHCR, whether in UNHCR-led refugee responses, in efforts to prevent and reduce statelessness and in its contribution alongside partners to other complex humanitarian emergencies, including conflict-induced internal displacement, or natural disasters. The document provides key actions to uphold the rights of forcibly displaced and stateless people in all activities. It also outlines the role of protection leadership in engaging humanitarian, development, peace and human rights actors to collectively advance the enjoyment of rights for displaced, stateless and affected populations.
