1759. Report of the Commission of in. vestigation into the conditions and circum. stances resulting in the tragic death of Mr. Dag Hammarskjöld and of members of the party accompanying him

The General Assembly, Recalling its resolution 1628 (XVI) of 26 October 1961 in which it decided to appoint a Commission of five eminent persons to carry out an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Mr. Dag Hanimarskjöld and of those who with him lost their lives on a mission in the service of the United Nations near the Ndola airport on 18 September 1961, Having considered the report of the Commission established under the above-mentioned resolution,[1]

1. Takes note of the report of the Commission of investigation into the conditions and circumstances resulting in the tragic death of Mr. Dag Hammarskjöld and of members of the party accompanying him;

2. Expresses its gratitude to the members of the Commission for the work they have done;

3. Requests the Secretary-General to inform the General Assembly of any new evidence which may come to his attention.
