South Sudan: The Transitional Constitution of the Republic of South Sudan

Comments:
The Transitional Constitution of South Sudan was adopted in 2011 and, for as far as it was possible to check, amended in 2013 (see link under 'related documents') amending articles 202 (4), (10) and (11) and 203 (7) to provide for an extension of the mandate and period of the National Constitutional Review Commission. Allegedly, it was also amended on 21 September 2024 extending the transitional period (for the third time) with 2 years (it was not possible to retrace the original document so please see for news relating to this amendment the link under 'related documents'. In 2022, the Constitution Making Process Act was adopted (see under 'related documents') to guide the process. It is said that the target is to have a finalized draft constitution by the end of 2026 (so as to coincide with the end of the 2-year extension period as adopted in the 2024 amendment act).
