Constitution of Afghanistan (2004-2021, reportedly suspended in 2021)
Comments:
This is an unofficial translation. As reported, "On seizing power, the Taliban suspended the 2004 Constitution, effectively removing key protections and safeguards, including the separation of powers and independence of the judiciary. The Taliban further announced that all Republic era laws would be assessed for their compliance with Sharia. To date, the de facto authorities have not officially declared the annulment of previous laws, nor have they completed their assessment. However, key laws relating to the administration of justice such as the Penal Code, the Civil Code, the Criminal Procedure Code, and the Civil Procedure Code are now no longer in effect." (Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in
Afghanistan, Richard Bennett, A/HRC/59/25, para. 22)
