The English version is a translation. A referendum held on 28 June 1992 adopted the Constitution and it entered into force on the following day - on 29 June 1992. Please note that a constitutional amendment was adopted on 26 March 2025 in relation to section 156(2) on local government council elections. This amendment will enter into force on 9 July 2025 and then on 1 March 2026. Note that with the second amendment entering into force, stateless persons will have their right to vote in local elections revoked. See https://www.riigiteataja.ee/akt/111042025001
