Submission by the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in case numbers 202003129/1/V2 and 202004875/1/V2 before the Council of State

UNHCR will address legal issues pertaining to the interpretation and scope and content of the Convention ground ‘political opinion’ in Article 1A(2) of the 1951 Convention, as well as to the assessment of a wellfounded fear of persecution for reasons of (imputed) political opinion, the issue of concealment in order to avoid persecution in this context and the assessment of sur place refugee claims related to (imputed) political opinion.
