Burkina Faso: Loi No 028-2008/AN portant code du travail au Burkina Faso (Law No. 028-2008/AN establishing the Labor Code in Burkina Faso)

The law applies to workers and employers operating in Burkina Faso. It defines a worker as any person engaged for remuneration under an employer’s direction, regardless of legal status. Employment and profession-related discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, political opinion, disability, pregnancy, national origin, or social background is forbidden. Equal opportunities and treatment must be ensured. Forced or compulsory labor is prohibited. This includes work demanded under threat of penalty or sanction without voluntary consent.
