Comments:
Only available in Arabic. Decision 2851 issued in 1924 is the act that announced that the registration of personal status documents would be considered compulsory in Lebanon starting the 1st of January 1925. It determines those who oversee organizing the personal status documentation and how to organize them in addition to those who are in charge of registering personal status documentation. The Decision states the regulations related to birth, marriage, divorce, desertion and death certificates. In addition, it stipulates the conditions of registration in case of replacement of place of residence. It should be noted that the Law on Documenting Personal Status Law – Issued on 7/12/1951 and Law 18/12/56 has implicitly amended some of the provisions contained in the Decision No. 2851/1924. As a result, a comparison of each article separately is required in order to apply the latest text in case of change, as Decision 2851 is still in use at time of uploading (2020).
