A bridge between two worlds: leadership among resettled Sudanese youth in an American city

This case study focuses on the Sudanese youth diaspora in the United States - specifically Portland, Maine - in an attempt to understand young refugees' perspectives on their situation and their desire and ability to have a voice in the policies and institutions that shape their lives. In this paper, the author traces the thread that connects the individual experiences of young Sudanese refugees to the politics and history of their community in Portland. The focus in particular is on the cohort of “twenty-somethings.”
