Report of the Secretary-General on the situation concerning Western Sahara

Comments:
Submitted pursuant to Security Council resolution 1469 (2003) of 25 Mar. 2003. Covers developments since the previous report dated 16 Jan. 2003 (S/2003/59) and reports on the activities of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara and the Identification Commission; provides details on: military and civilian police aspects; prisoners of war; Western Saharan refugees and an assessment of progress and problems since the appointment of the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General for Western Sahara. Includes, as annex II, the text of the "Peace plan for self-determination of the people of Western Sahara" and the responses of the parties and the neighbouring States to the peace plan. Includes also a table showing contributions to the UN Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) as at 10 May 2003 and a map showing MINURSO deployment as of May 2003.
