Guatemala: The return of the death penalty
Comments:
The Guatemalan Penal Code (1973) provides for the death penalty although, prior to two executions in 1996, it has rarely been carried out in Guatemala. This document covers the debate around the death penalty in Guatemala, the obligations of Guatemala under international human rights law, current death row cases and Amnesty International recommendations.
