News and information are diversified and widely dispersed among the federated states. An independent weekly newspaper, the Island Tribune, carries controversial and politically sensitive issues. Each of four state governments and a religious organization operate radio stations. Residents of Pohnpei and Chuuk have access to cable television. The federal government publishes a biweekly information bulletin, The National Union. State governments produce newsletters. Other papers generally avoid sensitive subjects. Unlimited public discussion over the Internet is increasing.
