Mohammad Milad, a cameraman for the Syrian Arab News Agency, died October 10, 2017, following a landmine explosion in Syria's eastern Homs governorate, according to a report in the online publication Modon, and Milad's employer, which cited the Syrian army. Neither report specified what Milad was doing at the time of his death.

According to al-Watan newspaper, a private Syrian newspaper owned by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's cousin Rami Makhlouf, Milad was killed while on assignment for the TV channel. CPJ was unable to independently verify the report.

Motive Unconfirmed: CPJ is investigating to determine whether the death was work-related.
