Yahiaoui, a copy editor for the government-controlled Arabic daily El-Chaab, was abducted as he left his home in Baraki, on the outskirts of Algiers, on his way to meet a friend. The next day, his body was found about 100 meters (330 feet) from his house with two bullet wounds to the head.
