The General Assembly, Being aware that in its resolution 571 B (VI) of 7 December 1951 it noted that any committee appointed for the purpose of obtaining funds to finance special programmes not provided for in the regular budget of the United Nations "should start its work at the beginning of the General Assembly session rather than at the end", Recognizing, however, that it was only on 12 January 1952 that the General Assembly, by resolution 519 A (VI), requested the Negotiating Committee for Extra-Budgetary Funds to obtain pledges of voluntary contributions from governments for the first programme requiring funds from sources outside the regular budget of the United Nations, namely, the Expanded Programme of Technical Assistance, and only on 26 January 1952 that the General Assembly, by resolution 513 (VI), made a similar request in regard to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East, Authorizes the Negotiating Committee for Extra-Budgetary Funds established by General Assembly resolution 571 B (VI) to continue its activities with such assistance as may be necessary from the Secretary-General, for such period as may be required after the close of the present session of the General Assembly. 366th plenary meeting,
