540. Observance of human rights

The General Assembly, Considering that, notwithstanding the proclamation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,[1]1Violations of human rights have continued to occur, Considering that it is the responsibility of the Members of the United Nations, individually and collectively, to see that human rights and freedoms shall be enhanced throughout the-world, Recommends that Members of the United Nations intensify their efforts for the observance of human rights and freedoms in their own territories and in the Non-Self -Governing and Trust Territories. 374th plenary meeting,
