The Commission on Human Rights, Guided by the principles embodied in the Charter of the United Nations, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenants on Human Rights and other international instruments for the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, Determined to achieve still further progress in the implementation of the principles and rights enshrined in those instruments, Convinced that the reinforcement of special procedures and mechanisms established or applied by the Commission on Human Rights to promote and protect human rights and fundamental freedoms will contribute towards strengthening the role and enhancing the effectiveness of the United Nations in the field of human rights, Recommends the following draft decision to the Economic and Social Council for adoption: [For the text, see chap.
