The Commission on Human Rights, Mindful of the need for universal respect of human rights and for application of the principle that violators should not be allowed to benefit from their crimes; Recalling resolution 1987/14 of 2 September 1987 of the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities on recovery of nations' assets illegally removed by violators of human rights, Requests all States concerned to co-operate in the speedy recovery of the assets belonging to the peoples of the Philippines and Haiti illegally removed by the Marcos and Duvalier families, respectively. 49th meeting
