18 (XXXVII). The individual's duties to the community and the limitations on human rights and freedoms under article 29 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights - A contribution to the freedom of the individual under law[1]44
The Commission on Human Rights,1. Recommends to the Economic and Social Council that it authorize the Sub-Commission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities to appoint Mrs. Erica-Irene A. Daes as Special Rapporteur with the mandate of undertaking a study on the topic entitled "The status of the individual and contemporary international law". The Special Rapporteur, in preparing her study, should take into account the doctrines and practices existing in various legal systems in the world and the relevant comments made by members of the Sub-Commission;
2. Requests the Secretary-General to give the Special Rapporteur all the assistance she may require in her work;
3. Requests the Special Rapporteur to submit her preliminary report to the Sub-Commission at its thirty-fifth session and her final report to the Sub-Commission at its thirty-sixth session.
