Iraq: Resolution No. 850 of 1988 (nationality)

In accordance with the provisions of Para. (A) of Article 42 of the Constitution,
The Revolutionary Command Council have decided in their session held on 27.11.1988 the following:
Firstly - The Iraqi of Arabic Nationalism shall be prohibited from changing his nationalism to another one for any reason whatsoever will be.
Secondly - Whoever contravenes the provisions of Para. (Firstly) of this Resolution shall be punished with imprisonment for a period not less than one year.
Thirdly - The provisions of this Resolution shall be valid on whoever exchanged or changed his Arabic Nationalism before its enforcement with effect from 4.9.1988.
Fourthly - This Resolution shall be published in the Official Gazette and the Ministers and authorities concerned shall undertake its implementation.
