Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev has reshuffled several top government posts.

The Kazakh president's website, akorda.kz, announced on June 21 that Astana's Mayor Adilbek Zhaqsybekov has been appointed to head the president's office.

Adilbekov replaces Nurlan Nyghmatulin, who has been confirmed by lawmakers as chairman of the Kazakh parliament's lower chamber, the Mazhilis, effective as of June 21.

Nazarbaev had proposed Nyghmatulin to take on the parliamentary post.

Meanwhile, Investments and Development Minister Aset Isekeshev has been appointed by Nazarbaev as Astana's new mayor.

Deputy Minister for Investments and Development, Zhenis Qasymbek, was promoted as Isekeshev to head the ministry.
