Iranian news agencies say the country's authorities have detained a former vice president on undeclared charges.

Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejeie was quoted as saying that Hamid Baghaei was arrested on June 8.

There were no further details.

Baghaei was former President Mahmud Ahmadinejad's vice president in charge of executive affairs.

In January, another deputy to Ahmadinejad, former First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi, was sentenced to five years in prison and ordered to pay $1.1 million in a graft scandal.

The current government of President Hassan Rohani has accused the former government under Ahmadinejad of many counts of embezzlement during the eight years he was in office.
