Pakistan's military says at least 13 militants have been killed when its jets targeted five militant hideouts in the northwestern tribal region of North Waziristan.

The military said the strikes were carried out near the Datta Khel village on May 20.

The army has been carrying out a major operation against local and foreign militants since last June.

Pakistan launched a military offensive in North Waziristan in June 2014 and claims to have cleared more than 90 percent of the region of the Al-Qaeda and Taliban militants who once controlled it.
