Iraqi security forces have repelled an attack by Islamic State (IS) fighters on an air base in the western province of Anbar.
The militants attacked on February 13 the Ain al-Asad base, where some 300 U.S. military personnel are training Iraqi troops.
U.S. and Iraqi officials said eight militants were killed in the attack.
The Pentagon said no U.S. troops were involved in the fighting.
The attack came hours after IS militants launched an offensive on the nearby town of al-Baghdadi, one of the few in the Sunni province still under government control.
There are conflicting reports on whether the militants are in control of the town.
The U.S. marines at Ain al-Asad are part of a force President Obama sent to Iraq to train and advise local security forces in their battle Islamic State fighters.
