Two convicted murderers were hanged on February 13 in Pakistani-administered Kashmir, bringing the total number of executions to 24 since a moratorium on the death penalty ended in December.
The two men were executed after being convicted for killing the son of a top provincial official during a robbery attempt in 2004 in Mirpur, one of Pakistani Kashmir's main cities.
The men had no known links to terrorism.
Pakistan ended a six-year moratorium on the death penalty in the wake of the December 16 attack on a school in Peshawar that killed more than 150 victims, almost all of them children.
The United Nations, the European Union, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch have called on Pakistan to reimpose the moratorium on executions.
