Militants from the radical group Islamic State (IS) have claimed responsibility for a suicide car bombing that wounded five people near the Baghdad International Airport, while other blasts in and around the Iraqi capital on November 16 killed at least five people.

The blast hit a UN convoy of three vehicles that was passing, badly damaging one vehicle, but no one in the convoy was wounded, the United Nations said.

A statement on a website frequently used by IS militants said the car bomb blast at a security checkpoint where passengers are searched before boarding taxis targeted Americans leaving the airport.

Separately, a bomb that exploded near a police patrol in the largely Sunni Radwaniya neighborhood southwest of Baghdad killed two policemen and wounded five.

A roadside bomb blast killed three people and wounded nine on a commercial street in the Hay Jami'a neighborhood.

Meanwhile, the IS is thought to have issued a graphic video showing the grisly execution of a U.S. aid worker captured in Syria and of captives the group said were Syrian soldiers.
