OSH, Kyrgyzstan – A madrasah in southern Kyrgyzstan has collapsed and injured at least 49 people.
The second floor of the Imam Azim Madrasah in the Suzak district of Jalal-Abat Province collapsed on February 3 during a memorial service for a local imam who died recently.
The head of the local Interior Ministry branch, Nurbek Zhanybekov, said investigators are at the scene.
He said there is no reason to believe the collapse was anything more than an accident but he did not exclude the possibility that a criminal case might be launched after investigators complete their work.
