A Russian businessman and his girlfriend who had been missing for a year have been found dead in Georgia's breakaway region of Abkhazia.
The Prosecutor-General's Office in the self-proclaimed Republic of Abkhazia said on October 14 that the bodies of Sergei Klemantovich and his girlfriend were found in a well in the village of Adzyubzha.
Four local citizens were arrested as suspects in the apparent murders.
According to the Prosecutor-General's Office, the first secretary of the Russian Consulate in Abkhazia's capital, Sukhumi, Dmitry Vishernev, had been involved in the search for Klemantovich.
Vishernev was shot dead in Sukhumi last month. His wife was injured in the attack and died later of her wounds.
Russian authorities announced in mid-September that they had arrested a Russian citizen from Chechnya, Yusup Lakayev, on charges of killing Vishernev and his wife.
