Five alleged terrorists have been killed and one severely injured during an antiterrorism operation in Kazakhstan's western region of Atyrau.
Security forces and police on launched the operation September 12 aimed at detaining a group of militants who took shelter in apartment blocks in the town of Kulsary.
Local authorities said there were no casualties among civilians or security forces. According to officials, the group was involved in a bombing near a mosque in the city of Atyrau last week which killed one man.
Recently several antiterrorist operations have been conducted in western Kazakhstan against religious extremists and alleged terrorists.
The first ever suicide bombing in Kazakhstan was reported in May last year in the western city of Aqtobe.
