Freelancer
February 1, 1994, in Algiers, Algeria
Quemener, a French freelance television journalist, was shot and killed while on assignment in Algiers. His colleague Scott Allan White, an Australian freelance journalist, was also shot. White suffered a bullet wound to the head and was hospitalized in serious condition. The two cameramen were attacked in the Casbah section of Algiers while shooting video footage that they had hoped to sell to ABC News.
