Police arrest activists at the rally in MoscowPolice arrest activists at the rally in Moscow

Police detained about 10 activists on June 26 at a Moscow demonstration to mark jailed oil tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky's 48th birthday and his eighth behind bars.

Around 50 activists wearing red T-shirts with Khodorkovsky's portrait on them marched down the Old Arbat pedestrian street handing out shirts and balloons.

Police detained about 10 of the activists, who were then driven away in police vehicles.

A demonstration also was held on June 26 in St. Petersburg.

Khodorkovsky has been in prison since his arrest in 2003 on corruption charges, which he denies.
