Gazeta 55 is a politically unaffiliated daily newspaper published in Tirana (East View n.d.a; HRW June 2002, 56; Media Online 15 Jan. – 1 Feb., Table 1). An early 2001 article published by the Sarejevo-based media journal Media Online identified the tabloid's owner as Fahri Balliu (ibid.; see also Gazeta 55 n.d.) and a second report indicates it to have nine reporters (AIIS 2003, Table 3). Reportedly, it writes from a right-wing bias (HRW June 2002, 56; East View n.d.a), and, according to East View Information Services, a Minneapolis-based provider of Russian, Central Asian and Eastern European periodicals (East View n.d.b), the newspaper "has a critical attitude towards daily events in Albania" (ibid. n.d.a). Gazeta 55 has a nationwide daily circulation of approximately 4,500 newspapers (HRW June 2002, 56; Media Online 15 Jan. – 1 Feb., Table 1) and is available online at
