In 10 March 2007 correspondence, an official with the Office of Foreign Relations of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) in the Kurdistan region of Iraq stated that the KRG does not issue casino licences. However, the KRG official noted that licences are being issued for investment projects related to developing infrastructure, employment, energy and housing for the Kurdistan region of Iraq (Iraq 10 Mar. 2007). According to the KRG official, the KRG is the authority responsible for the issuance of "all licenses in [the] Kurdistan Region of Iraq" (ibid. 13 Mar. 2007).
