April 15, 2007 – Three car bombings in Baghdad today killed at least 35 people and wounded dozens.
Officials say a coordinated twin car-bomb attack ripped through a crowded market area in southern Baghdad.
One explosives-packed car blew up outside a restaurant and the second in a nearby market in the Al-Shurta Al-Arabaa district.
A few hours later, a suicide bomber blew himself up in a minibus killing at least six people and wounding 10 in Baghdad's northern Al-Utaifiyah district, which is predominately Shi'ite.
Karbala Attack
Officials also said the number of people killed in a suicide car bomb attack in the central Iraqi shrine city of Karbala on April 14 has risen to 42.
Meanwhile, the British Defense Ministry have said that two British helicopters crashed north of Baghdad today, killing two British crew members and wouding five. The statement said initial reports indicate the crash was an accident.
Earlier reports, quoting the U.S. military, said the two helicopters were U.S. military helicopters.
