The Yahoo! Website provides conflicting information regarding the electronic storage capacity given to individuals who register for a personal e-mail account, with documents indicating either three megabytes (Yahoo! n.d.a; ibid. n.d.b) or four megabytes (ibid. n.d.c) of storage capacity. However, when the Research Directorate created a personal e-mail account, it was given six megabytes of such capacity (ibid. n.d.d).

The Yahoo! Website further states that

By default, Yahoo! Mail does not automatically save a copy of messages you send into the Sent folder.

To enable this option for a single message, check the "Save copy of outgoing message to Sent folder" checkbox in the Compose Mail window before clicking the Send button.

To enable this option for all messages that you send:

Click the Options link on the left-hand navigation bar.

Click the Preferences link on the right.

Place a check in the box next to "Save Sent Messages into the Sent folder."

Click the Save Settings button near the bottom of the window to put your new settings into effect.

Yahoo! Mail will then save a copy of each outgoing message into your Sent folder (ibid. n.d.e).

The Website also indicates that e-mail messages kept in folders other than the trash folder will be "kept there until you yourself choose to delete" them (ibid. n.d.b). If an account holder deletes a message, it is transferred to the trash folder, which is automatically emptied on a periodic basis (ibid. n.d.f). Messages in the trash folder can also be expunged at any time by clicking the "empty trash" link (ibid.). Once a message is expunged from the trash folder, it cannot be retrieved (ibid.; ibid. n.d.b).

Corroborating information could not be obtained from Yahoo! Canada or its parent company in the United States.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
