No information specifying that Eren Keskin was president of the Istanbul branch of the Turkish Human Rights Association (Insan Haklari Dernegi, IHD) in October 1998 could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate. A May 1998 report identifies Eren Keskin as "IHD Deputy Chairwoman" (DPA 13 May 1998). According to AP, in August 1998, Eren Keskin was acting as a lawyer on behalf of a German woman jailed in Turkey "on charges of belonging to an outlawed Kurdish rebel group" (20 Aug. 1998). Ms. Keskin is referred to as the "présidente de l'IHD d'Istanbul" and "IHD Istanbul Branch Chairperson" in January and February 1999 Info-Turk Bulletins respectively. Ms. Keskin is again referred to as "IHD Istanbul Branch Chairwoman" in a 31 October 2000 report (Kurdish Observer). No references to a student forum at Balikesir University could be found among the sources consulted by the Research Directorate.
