According to the First Secretary of the Embassy of Lebanon in Ottawa, Lebanese passports are issued for a one year validity and a five year validity. The only difference between the two passports is the cost: a five year passport costs more than the one year passport. Some people prefer a one year passport because of its lower cost. On a legal basis, the two documents are the same.

This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
