In 23 April 2001 telephone interviews, representatives of the Consultoría para los Derechos Humanos y el Desplazamiento (Independent Advisory Committee for Human Rights and Displacements), Comisión Intercongregacional Justicia y Paz (Intercongressional Commission for Justice and Peace), Grupo de Apoyo a Organizaciones de Desplazados (Support Group to Organizations of Displaced Persons), and the Asociación para la Promoción Social Alternativa (Association for Alternative Social Promotion, MINGA), four organizations that monitor the situation of displaced persons in Colombia, were unaware of a group called the Unión de Desplazados del Sur Bolivar (Union of Displaced Persons of South Bolivar). The coordinador of education at MINGA added that in the four years that the organization has worked in the South Bolivar area with displaced persons, he has never come across a group with this name (ibid.).
