III. RESOLUTIONS ADOPTED ON THE REPORTS OF THE FIFTH COMMITTEE
232. Organization of a United Nations postal administration

The General Assembly

1. Takes note of the report[1] of the Secretary-General on the question of a United Nations postal administration and of the report[2] thereon of the Advisory Committee on Administrative and Budgetary Questions;

2. Approves in principle the idea of establishing a United Nations postal administration;

3. Invites the assistance of the Universal Postal Union in attaining this objective;

4. Authorizes the Secretary-General to conclude arrangements with various Governments, beginning with the Governments of those countries in which the main United Nations offices are situated, for the issue of special or over-printed postage stamps, subject to the provisions that

(a) Words, designs and face values of such issues shall be a approved by the Secretary-General;

(b) No arrangements entered into under this paragraph shall involve financial loss to the United Nations;

5. Bequests the Secretary-General to pursue the inquiries and negotiations which be has already initiated and to present a report to the next regular session of the General Assembly.
