29 May 1996 on organized crime, particularly the government response and involvement

For information on organized crime in Russia, including the government's response and commentaries on the effectiveness of the response, the involvement of politicians and government officials with organized crime, and the criminalization of the Russian economy and society, please consult the attachments.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
