Attached please find a copy of an unofficial translation of the Public Military Service Act of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Please note that Chapter 4 (Articles 31-46) of this Act stipulates grounds for exemption from military service. In addition, some of the articles of Chapters 1-3 (Articles 1-30) make reference to the criteria for exemption of military service.
According to the Act, persons who are liable for military service can be exempted for medical, educational and guardianship reasons. The attachment provides details on these grounds and other grounds which qualify individuals for exemption.
