After researching the issue in Turkey, a representative of the Turkish Human Rights Foundation in Ankara stated that they could not find any information on a group called Isder (4 Aug. 1999). The representative added that an organization with 70,000 members would be well-known in Ankara and in Turkey, and would have telephone and fax numbers. The representative expressed strong doubts that the organization exists in Ankara or in Turkey.
This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
