No information on the treatment of United Workers Party (UWP) supporters by St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) members or other agents, nor a list of elected government officials by riding, 1992-September 1999, could be found among the sources consulted.

A recent Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) report states that the opposition UWP is "likely to be further weakened" by the report of a commission of inquiry into alleged acts of impropriety during the party's tenure in office, although it does not indicate the inquiry is being used for politically motivated purposes (21 June 1999).

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the Research Directorate within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
