The Immigration and Refugee Board Documentation Centre in Ottawa does not have access to information on the religious or ethnic affiliations of specific refugee claimants at the initial level hearing. Employment and Immigration is responsible for maintaining initial hearing decisions, and may have information pertaining to your question.
The Board has recently approved a new policy governing the provision of Convention Refugee Determination Division reasons and abstracts to the public by developing a legal data base which will facilitate access to sanitized reasons and abstracts for full level hearings. As an interim measure, the said policy allows for the provision of a sanitized version of full text reasons and abstracts of reasons to be made available, in hard copy, through IRB Documentation Centres in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal by mid-November.
