An official of the High Commission for the Republic of Ghana in Ottawa explained that Mamponteng is one of the districts in Ashanti region, and Kumasi the regional administrative capital for the region (26 Feb. 1999). He further explained that there are birth and death registries at all district headquarters. "Ideally" for someone born in Mampoteng, the registration district should be Mampoteng. This information could not be corroborated by other sources consulted by the Research Directorate. For detailed information on the registration of birth in Ghana, please consult GHA29736.E of 24 July 1998.
