The following information was provided to the DIRB by the chief of Montréal Mirabel Airport Operations Services during 20 and 21 September 1994 telephone interviews.
There were only two flights from Montréal Mirabel Airport to New York City on 12 and 13 November 1993. On 12 November 1993, AeroLineas Argentinas flight 317 with destinations for Rio and Buenos Aires left Mirabel Airport at 17h 06 (Montréal time) and arrived at Kennedy Airport in New York City at approximately 18h 20 (Montréal time). Montréal passengers could leave the flight at Kennedy Airport in New York City.
On 13 November 1993, Olympic Airways flight 426 destined for Athens left Mirabel Airport at 20h 25 (Montréal time) and stopped over at Kennedy Airport in New York City at approximately 21h 40 (Montréal time). This flight only carried passengers from Montréal to Athens, and thus, Montréal passengers could not leave the flight at Kennedy Airport in New York City.
Information on the cost of tickets for these two flights could not be found among the sources currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa.
This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
