The attached 29 July 1995 Xinhua report provides background and current information on the resurgence of the pro-royalist Afghan Social Democratic Party (ASDP) after 16 years of inactivity. The article states that the ASDP president in 1995 was Anwarul Ahady, a professor of economics at a United States university. The attached 26 June 1996 FNS Daybook report states that Mr. Ahady was still the ASDP president at the end of June 1996. Further information on the above-mentioned topic could not be found among the sources consulted by the DIRB.

This Response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This Response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
