According to a Calgary Red Cross Official quoted by the Calgary Herald on 6 February 1993, fighting in Zagreb in early February was not as intense as it had been in the past. However, an article published by Xinhua General Overseas News Service indicates that Croatian military police had been expelling ethnic Serbian and Macedonian residents from their homes in order to provide shelter for Croatian servicemen and their families (16 Feb. 1993). In some cases Serbian and Macedonian tenants were beaten up and their possessions confiscated (Ibid.).
Further information that would indicate more recent violence against the ethnic Serbs in Zagreb and any additional or corroborating information on this topic is not currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa.
