Information on the principal factions and leaders of the All-India Sikh Student Federation (AISSF) and the Akali Dal is currently unavailable to the DIRB in Ottawa. According to Asia Watch, explicit information on Sikh religious factions and militant organizations is nearly impossible to acquire (Aug. 1991, 28, 174). The attachments may provide some information on the leaders and factions of the Akali Dal and its youth wing, the AISSF.

This response was prepared after researching publicly accessible information currently available to the DIRB within time constraints. This response is not, and does not purport to be, conclusive as to the merit of any particular claim to refugee status or asylum.
